5 Beauty Pie Top Skincare Products for Mature Skin
Let me talk you through my five top Beauty Pie skincare picks for mature, over 60 skin, just like mine – and whether Beauty Pie skincare is worth the money.
What is Beauty Pie and how does it work?
It’s a Buyers Club – that’s how it likes to define itself now. I think personally that is slightly misleading as that suggests you might have to buy in bulk – I would say it’s a subscription service, really, as you pay a membership fee and that allows you to buy quality products at reduced prices.
So you pay a membership fee – and at the moment you can actually try the brand free for 60 days – and for that, you can then purchase high end products at much reduced prices. The company produces its own products using high quality labs and sourcing top ingredients to use in their skincare and makeup. They benchmark their products against others on the market to ensure the prices they charge reflects the quality of what they produce.
So for example, you can join for say £59 a year, which is what I have done, and in that year you can purchase to a certain value – so you are able to buy products to the value of £3,600 – and that value is based on what you might pay for the product in a store. So an example might superactive capsules pure double vitamin c & vitamin e serum (60 capsules) at £14.71 – which BP say would cost £60 in a store – and the Elizabeth Arden Vit C capsules (which don’t contain Vitamin E) and which cost £77 for 60 capsules.
You could look at it this way – £59 (or the equivalent US dollars) annually could be the cost of your travel to a store, if you bought in person rather than online – or you could do the maths, as I did, to work out how much I’m actually paying for my BP sunscreen if I bought 6 bottles a year at £9.14 and my annual membership – so, in reality, I’m paying out £19 a bottle, effectively – £8 a month, if you will.
Now as I mentioned it might be a good time to try out some BP products as they are offering a 60-day free trial, to suck it and see, so to speak!
And before we get into the products, one of the reasons I wanted to try BP is because I was impressed with the founder, Marcia Kilgore. I’d heard her speak about her previous ventures, which include Bliss, the Spa, Soaper Duper, Soap and Glory and Fit Flop. Fit Flop in particular was such a clever concept – a sandal that was good for your feet and didn’t make you look like you were wearing orthopaedic shoes – genius! So I was attracted to her ethos, her imagination and her power to disrupt, if you like!
The brand is also very clear that it is cruelty free, most are vegan (all products have a comprehensive ingredients list for each item), some products are part of the C list for those suffering from cancer, most if not all of their packaging is recyclable, and if you’re into clean beauty, they say they are – although I don’t buy that definition myself as there’s no such thing as unclean beauty. But what BP say about clean beauty is this:
- Our main driver when developing products is performance, so we design new products around the active ingredients we include in order to ensure they deliver the highest standard of results.
- We act responsibly by carefully selecting all of our ingredients, with avoidance of usual suspects when formulating our products. It doesn’t say what the usual suspects are, but for each product it lists what the products don’t contain – including parabens. I am not concerned about parabens in products, as according to Cancer Research UK, parabens do not cause cancer in humans, neither does talc – despite the Johnson & Johnson ovarian cancer case. But as stated above, Beauty Pie has some of its products listed on the C List which is helpful for cancer sufferers who want to continue to use beauty products but need to avoid certain ingredients when they are going through treatment.
- Most importantly, we made the commitment to be completely transparent about our ingredients and you can find the full list of the ones used on each product page.
- Our products are assessed by independent third-party experts to ensure they are safe and compliant with EU and US requirements.
So there you have it!
I’ve chosen these products for 3 reasons:
- They are everyday products.
- They are fragrance free
- And they work!
I’ve also given examples of cost per year – the purchase price plus the annual membership – to give you an idea of what you might pay if you only bought that product.
Super healthy skin™ Ultralight uva/uvb spf25
What does it do?
The blurb says: A trifecta protector, it’s like sunscreen, hydrating moisture milk, and foundation primer, all rolled into an invisible, pretty much imperceptible, sink-straight-in silky light SPF. Loaded with liquorice, lecithin and hydrating hyaluronic acid.
Highlights
- High UVA/UVB SPF25 sun protection.
- Super hydrating formula with hyaluronic acid, beet and liquorice extract
- Silky, lightweight, ultra-wearable texture
- Non-powdery, imperceptible finish

How much does it cost?
£9.14 – plus membership – so it works out at about £19 a bottle as outlined above, if that were the only product from BP you were purchasing.
Why did I choose it?
It’s my holy grail moisturiser/spf. It goes on smoothly, doesn’t leave a white cast and doesn’t pill under foundation. It mixes well with my Vit C powder – if I’m using that – it doesn’t sting and it doesn’t cost an arm and a leg! This is my second bottle, and I will continue to repurchase.
Vitamin C serum, the super active capsules pure double vitamin c & vitamin e serum
What does it do?
The blurb says: Our super-targeted ‘one-shot’ capsules hold high doses of stable actives, so you can ‘up the skincare ante’ as-and-when-needed, with a simple twist, squeeze and tap. Our Superactive Capsules, with a double dose of pure Vitamin C, is boosted with Vitamin E acetate for moisture and antioxidation. They also help to firm, smooth and brighten, minimize the appearance of lines and wrinkles, and help even out skin tone. It’s a daily must-have anti-aging vitamin dose for your skin.
Suitable for all skin types, sensitive and oily types introduce slowly. Excellent to apply on both your face and neck.
Highlights
- Brightens skin and helps even out skin tone.
- Antioxidant protection (with Vitamin C² and Vitamin E Acetate), for free – radical neutralization

- Clinical studies show a significant improvement in skin smoothness when used daily
- 100% biodegradable capsules made from red seaweed
- Includes 60 capsules

How much does it cost?
£14.71 for 60 capsules with membership. So if you simply bought this product with your £59 a year membership, over a year it would cost you £29.46 per purchase – rather different from £149 x 2 or more!
Why did I choose it?
I was looking for a product that would be as good as the super high-end CE Ferulic which is soooo expensive at around £148 – ok it does last a while but even so – and this ticked the boxes – Vit C and E together – like the powder I mentioned above – but in a handy little individual capsule. And so glad I did as it feels so velvety on the skin. Granted it stings very slightly on first application, which I guess is the Vit C, as after all if you applied an orange or lemon onto your skin I assume it would sting – but it stops within a 30 seconds or so and dries down to give a lovely smooth finish to the skin. Then you can go ahead and apply your moisturiser. It feels like it’s doing my mature skin good and giving it a glow into the bargain.
Super Healthy skin™ hot oil double cleansing balm
What does it do?
Formulated in Japan, with natural Aloe Juice, Niacin-rich Rice Bran Oil and cold-pressed Baobab Sariché Oil. Deeply purifying, emulsifying and softening, it’s one awesome multi-action hot oil double cleansing balm. Clean. Cruelty-free. Gluten-free. Fragrance-free.
How to use it:
Rub a grape-sized amount onto dry palms, warm it to soften, then apply to your face. Massage lightly in circles, using the gentle heat to deep clean. Gradually add water until it breaks into a milk, then rinse, or remove with a warm, wet washcloth.
How much does it cost?
£13.15 – if you bought six in a year, added to your £59 membership, it would cost you £23 which is comparable to Clinique’s Take The Day Off.
Why did I choose it?
I thought it would be interesting to try a balm in a tub like Take the Day Off, and actually I prefer this as its easier to pick up less product as its consistency is a bit thicker – in fact it’s more like the Trinny cleanser except in a jar rather than a kind of bottle/pump effort which Trinny’s is in. It is really effective at getting makeup off, even mascara, although tbh I do a double cleanse so if there’s any pesky mascara residue it’ll come off second time. And it feels luxurious.
Super Healthy Skin™ Nourishing Lip Balm SPF 30
What does it do?
The blurb says: this is the best SPF lip balm for everyday nourishing, soothing, prevention and protection. A mix of pure Olive Oil Squalane, soothing Liquorice Fatty Acids, Avocado and Grapeseed Oils, super vitamin C (Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate) to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, soothing Citrus Unshiu Peel Extract, plus it’s naturally flavoured with Sweet Orange Peel Oil.
How much does it cost?
£9.74
Why did I choose it?
Now I must caveat this by saying BP doesn’t say that this product doesn’t contain fragrance – but none of my no-no’s are listed – so no citral, no geraniol, no limonene, no vanilla – but it does contain some fruit oils and citrus. However, as I seem to get on with Vit C I assume this will be ok and it certainly feels fabulous on the lips – softening without the greasiness of some lip balms. Definitely the best lip balm I’ve found to date.
Japanfusion™ 10-minute-miracle sheet mask
What does it do?
The blurb says: this is a 10-minute nano-emulsion sheet mask that erases the exhaustion from your face. So impressive, you’ll want to use it in the morning. (Why head to bed, you’ll ask yourself, when your skin is SINGING?) It’s infused with Plant Squalane, Phospholipids and hypoallergenic White Mushroom Polysaccharides (which is more hydrating than Hyaluronic Acid).
Have a few around for a hangover face, as a pre-makeup base, or to have in your carry-on case.
How to use
Cleanse and tone your face and neck. Take the Japanfusion Sheet Mask from the pouch and apply for 10-15 minutes. After removing, massage any remaining product into the skin, then apply moisturiser. It’s amazing before makeup application, during or after a flight, and post ski or sun. Use for deep-sinking continuous hydration of the skin barrier and for a glowing, smooth complexion.
How much does it cost?
£6.10
Why did I choose it?
I hadn’t used a mask for some years, and I thought it looked rather fun – I mean, let’s face it (pardon the pun!), a face mask isn’t going to have any lasting effects, but as a pre date night treatment or a pick me up, it might be just the thing – and I can officially report that it is! My skin felt hydrated, softened and glowy post application – even if I did feel a right prat with it on, and be warned, unless you lie down it’ll fall off, so give yourself permission to switch off for a few mins whilst it does its thing. One a month will set you back – well, you do the maths!
