Quick Simple Everyday Makeup for Mature Skins Using Just Eight Products!
The aim of this makeup is an everyday look that makes me look pulled together, that I can wear to the office or on Zoom, which looks effortless, and is effortless. I want the main feature to be my eyes, to look awake, fresh and alive, and not like I’ve tried too hard! And I am using very few products – eight, to be precise – which are:
Foundation, concealer, setting powder, eyebrow pencil, eye pencil, mascara, bronzer and lipstick. And that’s it! What, no blusher I hear you cry? No, and I’ll show you for why!
serum foundation
I start with a serum foundation, as Spring is in full swing and we don’t want heavy or even medium coverage, we want light medium, and we can always conceal or cover blemishes with our concealer. I’m using the Charlotte Tilbury Beautiful Skin Foundation as it’s a light to medium coverage, erring on the medium side which means it blurs imperfections but with a skin-like finish.
concealer
I then add concealer where we need it most – in my case under my eyes, on my lids as a primer, and dotted about here and there to cover any redness. I’ve used Lancôme’s Teint Idole concealer which covers beautifully, doesn’t sit in fine lines (well, not unless you are right under my nose) and looks great with a light powdering.
powder
And talking of powder, I use Charlotte again, her Hollywood Flawless Finish for setting powder, on my lids and under my eyes.
eyebrow pencil
Now for brows, I’ve used my current favourite eyebrow pencil, the Bobbi Brown, from which I do not want to be separated – it has become my holy grail! It’s waxy, making it easy to apply without having to spend hours drawing in individual hairs.
eye pencil
Now, eye pencil – and this is another holy grail – the Beauty Pie pencil which they market by stating that if the women of Nasa had invented an eye pencil, this would be it – and they’re not wrong! I absolutely love it and it’s taken over from my previous holy grail, Le Liner by L’Oréal. I have it in the shade Turkish Coffee.
Mascara
So to mascara – I am currently in love with Hourglass’s Caution Extreme Mascara – I bought a mini and loved it so much I’ve now got the full-sized version. It’s a deep, almost blue black, and elongates my lashes whilst coating and thickening them in a waxy seal which doesn’t smudge.
Bronzer
Now we come to bronzer. I recently recorded a video on bronzers , after watching quite a few YouTubers on their methods of application, and I came across a couple I really liked – Andreea Ali and Frederique Bros. Both suggested using bronzer as a kind of transition shade, and Frederique didn’t use blusher after her bronzer, so I thought – not that I look like her, she’s got much darker hair and her skin is much smoother and less bumpy than mine, oh, and she’s probably a good 20 years younger than me – but I really liked the look so I thought I’d try it, and I like-y!
So what you do is apply it to your cheekbones, then sweep up a little and apply to your browbone, so just under your brows – it looks natural, particularly if you choose a bronzer that’s not too far removed from your skin tone. I chose the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Bronzing Powder in the shade light.
Lipstick
And so, finally, to lipstick. As the complexion is quite muted, I’ve chosen the Lisa Eldridge Velvet Lipstick in Muse, and applied it with my fingers for a softer, lip-enhancing look.
..So that’s it! My Everyday Simple Makeup for Mature Skins.
